Waterton Lakes National Park is located in the southwest corner of Alberta, Canada, about 266 kilometers south of Calgary. The west side of the park is bounded by the Continental Divide which is the Alberta / British Columbia border. The south side of the park is bounded by the forty-ninth parallel which is the Canada / United States border. The park occupies 526 square kilometers of land.
