Key weekend for Pronghorn Athletics

The men's hockey team will test a program-best win streak on the road while the men's basketball team begins a series of must-win games as Pronghorn Athletics gears up for the stretch run in its spring sporting schedule.

The Pronghorns men's hockey team is riding an eight-game win streak, the longest stretch in the program's history, as it heads to Saskatoon to face the University of Saskatchewan Huskies in a two-game set. The Horns, 12-6-0 on the year, are now ranked eighth in the country and after not being in the national rankings for six seasons, have spent three successive weeks in the CIS top-10.

Premiere of U of L Art Collection songs

There are very few art collections that have original songs written about them but then again, the University of Lethbridge Art Collection is truly one of a kind.

'Mandate for Research', by the Cedar Tavern Singers AKA Les Phonoréalistes, consists of an EP of four original songs as well as a music video shot in the U of L Art Vault.

Shining a light on logic

Just as a scientist places a sample beneath a microscope lens to understand its subtlest parts, philosophers minutely examine an argument to determine how its components work together.

Logics that can cope with inconsistent premises are the focus of Dr. Bryson Brown’s most recent work. The University of Lethbridge philosophy professor has recently earned a $95,000 Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) grant to pursue his research program, titled Preservationism: Applications and Extensions.

Sheen, Bowles are athletes of week

A stirring upset and the continuation of a program-best winning streak resulted in Kenzie Sheen and Scott Bowles earning the respective female and male Pronghorn Athletes of the Week awards.

Sheen, a third-year post out of Cardston, Alta., led the Pronghorns (2-12) women’s basketball team to a split against the country’s third-rated University of Alberta Pandas (10-4) this past weekend.

Saturday night, Sheen and the Pronghorns recorded a huge upset victory, knocking off the Pandas 65-60 in overtime, just the team’s second Canada West regular season victory of the season.

Exercise caution around campus

The University of Lethbridge campus is a slippery place today after a light snowfall this morning coated several patches of ice that had formed overnight. Risk & Safety Services is warning all those who are making their way around campus today to exercise extreme caution.

Areas such as parking lots and campus walkways have proven to be very hazardous because of the rapidly changing weather conditions. Members of the facilities and grounds staff are diligently working to alleviate the problem but people are still urged to be careful when making their way around campus.
