University welcomes four new Board of Governors members

The University of Lethbridge is pleased to welcome four new Board of Governors members.

Jennifer Harker was recently appointed as a representative of the general public by the Lieutenant Governor in Council and will serve until September 2017. Mark Carrell, Sean Glydon and Julia Adolf are the three new student members appointed by the Minister of Innovation and Advanced Education to serve the Board for the next academic year.

Jennifer Harker
Jennifer is a graduate of the University of Lethbridge, earning a bachelor of arts degree in history in 1999 before completing a master of arts in history from the University of Toronto and a bachelor of law degree from the University of Calgary. Currently living in Calgary, Jennifer serves as Corporate Secretary and Senior Manager, Facility Management and Office Services at Pembina Pipeline Corporation, a pipeline transportation and midstream service provider.

Mark Carrell
Mark’s position on the Board is that of the Graduate Students’ Association President. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in history and previously served as the GSA VP Finance. During his time with the GSA, he has been involved with increasing the fiscal accountability of the association, a referendum to facilitate the hiring of a permanent GSA staff member, the creation of new office space for the GSA in Markin Hall and increased social event funding.

Sean Glydon
Sean, as President of the University of Lethbridge Students’ Union, holds one of two undergraduate student Board of Governors positions. He previously served the ULSU as the Vice-President External before winning election as ULSU President for the 2014-15 academic year. His goal as President is to improve student mental health supports, enhance relationships between the ULSU and other student organizations and continue to advocate for students on an external basis.

Julia Adolf
Julia completed her bachelor of science degree in psychology at the University of Lethbridge in 2013 and has spent the past year in Australia. She now returns to the U of L to complete her after degree in science education and assumes one of the two student positions on the Board. Julia previously served as VP Academic in the University of Lethbridge Students’ Union, was a member of the University Senate and sat on numerous other committees as the student representative.
