U of L teams excel at programming contests

The University of Lethbridge had its best showing in eight years as it sent four teams to participate in the Alberta Collegiate Programming Contest and the Association of Computing Machinery Rocky Mountain Regional Programming Contest recently.

Team 1, consisting of Travis Hulstein, Garret Johnson and Anthony Schmieder, finished in second place in the Oct. 18 Alberta Collegiate Programming Contest. The group then posted the best U of L finish in five years at the Oct. 25 ACM Rocky Mountain Regionals, placing eighth out of 51 teams.

Team 2, consisting of Nathan House, Yun-Jung Kim and Marc Moreau, placed third at the Alberta event and followed that up with a 27th place finish at regionals.

The Team 4 group of Andrew Campbell, Wooman Jung and Chris Momot placed 26th at regionals. Rachel Godlonton, Allysa Lumley and Kevin Sincennes constituted Team 3. They finished 30th at regionals.

U of L Department of Mathematics & Computer Science professor, Dr. Howard Cheng, coached all four teams.
