River bottom closed due to rising Oldman waters

University of Lethbridge faculty, staff and students are warned to stay away from the Oldman River after the City of Lethbridge officially closed access to the river bottom, early Friday morning.

The Oldman River continues to rise and is expected to reach peak flow between noon and 6 p.m. Friday. This will continue to cause flooding in the parks and low bank areas along the river bottom.

The City of Lethbridge has closed all river bottom parks and has evacuated a portion of the Bridgeview Campground. Residents are asked to obey all signs as these areas are unsafe.
