Raymond and Carol Romses are happy to reconnect with their university

Raymond (BASc '76) and Carol (BASc '77) Romses are proud to be part of the University of Lethrbridge community

"We were U of L students in the 1970s when the University was still very new," says Raymond. "We both grew up in southern Alberta, and were grateful for the opportunity to attend university in our hometown."

The couple, who met while they were both students at the U of L, remember lots of opportunity to get involved.

"What really stands out in our minds is the type of experiences we had while we were here," says Carol. "We had opportunities to interact one-on-one with our professors, we were both Pronghorns volleyball players, and we participated in a wide range of student activities and made friends we still have to this day."

Following graduation, Raymond went on to a 37-year career with the Canadian Forces. As a military family, they were posted across Canada and around the world and they believe their U of L education gave them the skills they needed to be successful.

"We wouldn't be the people we are today without the experiences the U of L afforded," says Raymond, who was the Alumnus of the Year in 2005. "Our education laid a foundation for the rest of our lives. Giving back is a way for us to stay connected to our university."
