Latest Kevin recipient a long-time University supporter

Known for his bright smile and infectious blue and gold spirit, long-time U of L faculty member Dr. Dennis Connolly (LLD ’17) and long-time Supporting Our Students supporter is the latest recipient of SOS’s Kevin Award.

Faculty and staff from across campus join together to support our students and recognize long-time SOS supporter, Dr. Dennis Connolly (LLD ’17), the latest recipient of the Kevin Award.

“The Kevin Award was created for the SOS committee by Kevin Sehn in the fine arts department, and that’s where the sculpture gets its name,” says Faculty of Health Sciences Administrative Support staff member and current SOS co-Chair Sharon Lawson (BEd ’88). “We award Kevin roughly quarterly from a drawing of new, long-time, and renewing donors, but everyone on the committee felt Dennis would be a perfect recipient this time for his commitment to students and the Pronghorns.”

Having served as the SOS Co-Chair in 2005 and taught at the U of L for the past 50 years, Dr. Connolly is no stranger to financial challenges students face and the impact SOS has on them.

“There are a lot of financial barriers that can keep students from achieving their very best, and even a few hundred dollars a semester can make the difference,” Dr. Connolly says.

The SOS campaign is in the midst of an ambitious campaign to celebrate the U of L’s 50th anniversary. The 500 at 50 campaign’s goal is to have 500 individual donors by the end of the year. Since announcing the 50th anniversary goal last year, the program has added almost 100 donors and will announce a milestone very soon. Stay tuned!
