Horns hockey still alive

There's still a chance the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns men's hockey team will reach the Canada West playoffs - but it's a slim one.

The Horns sat back and watched Canada West play this past weekend, experiencing a bye week as teams above them in the standings jockeyed for position into the final weekend. When it was all said and done, the University of Calgary Dinos and University of Saskatchewan Huskies both secured weekend sweeps and in the process, locked up post-season berths.

The only shot now for the Horns rests with the club sweeping Saskatchewan this weekend at Nicholas Sheran Arena and the Regina Cougars going into Winnipeg and sweeping University of Maniotoba Bisons. No other scenario will result in the Horns reaching the post-season.

Currently, the Horns sit three points back of the Bisons but Manitoba (14-10-2) took the season series 3-1, so even a tie in points would go the way of the Bisons. The Horns (12-11-3) will host the Huskies Friday and Saturday nights at Nicholas Sheran Arena with the puck dropping at 7 p.m. each evening.
