EAP scholarship winner has her eyes on being a music producer

An excellent attitude and work ethic have paid off for Catalina Giraldo Garcia, a student entering the Digital Audio Arts program this fall.

From Colombia, Garcia came to the U of L for the summer term and took the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program to meet the requirement for English language proficiency. Now complete, she has received the EAP Completion Scholarship to help her with her ongoing studies.

“Catalina’s growth in EAP and motivation to achieve her dreams, combined with her excitement to begin undergraduate studies, provide her with the tools for a successful future,” says Adriana Lima, an EAP instructors.

“Catalina is a very talented student who has a lot of potential to excel in her undergraduate courses. I am positive that she has a very bright future ahead of her,” says Jill Burnell, an EAP instructor.

Garcia chose the U of L after doing some research on programs the U of L offers, its campus and surrounding area.

“Lethbridge is not a big city but it still has lots to do and it is one of the sunniest cities in Canada,” she says.

An accomplished piano player, Garcia also loves to read about the history of music. Following completion of the Digital Audio Arts program, she hopes to become a music producer.
