GEOLOGY 2060
Physical Geology
Origin, composition and structure of the earth; identification of common rocks and mineral resources; evolution of the surface features of continents and ocean basins. A one-day field trip will be scheduled on a Saturday.
Prerequisite: Geography 1000.
A study of the physical and chemical characteristics of groundwater and its movement through geological media. Resource and geomorphic aspects of groundwater are stressed and potential contamination from surface sources are examined. A one-day field trip will be scheduled on a Saturday.
Prerequisite: Geology 2060.
Depending on student demand and available faculty. Various areas of physical and historical geology.
Geological conditions, facies and events during the last 2.5 million years of earth history, focusing on Canada, and a comparison of these with similar facies formed in other geological eras.
Prerequisites: Geology 2060 and Geography 3060.
