Structure, belief and practices of Eastern and Western religious traditions.
Myths of the Sumerians, Babylonians, Egyptians, Greeks and Romans; genesis of ancient religions; relationship of myth and religion; principal mystery religions.
Prerequisite: Religious Studies 1000 or completion of four courses (12.0 credit hours) in Arts and Science.
Thought and practices of classical Hinduism; reform and sectarian movements; significant thinkers in modern Hinduism.

A socio-historical exploration of the image of women portrayed in world religions and the realities of their social experience. Issues such as sexuality, family, education, politico-economic power will be considered.

A study in the development of the Early Church from the beginning of the 2nd Century to the end of the 6th Century, with special attention to early Christian beliefs and practices, and the Church's relationship to the political, cultural and religious environment of the Roman Empire.
Prerequisite: Religious Studies 2500 or History 1000, or a previous course (3.0 credit hours) in History.
History and development of religion in a North American context; church, denomination, sect and cult in Canadian and American culture.
