International Admission Requirements - United States

United States of America

Applications are welcome from prospective students:

  • completing high school (grade 12);
  • transferring with college or university course credits;
  • with associate degrees; and
  • with previous university degrees.
High School admission

U.S. applicants who present the following are admissible:

  • A complete High School Graduation Diploma with a minimum of grade 'C' or better, and either:
  • an ACT * Composite score of 20 or higher; or
  • SAT ** scores with:
    • Complete SAT Reasoning scores (Critical Reading, Mathematics, and Writing) with no score under 450 and a total score of at least 1500; and
    • Three SAT Subject scores with no score under 400
Transfer admission Transfer applicants who present either of the following are admissible:
  • Acceptable High School qualifications (see above) and three or more transferable college or university courses with a 'C' average (2.0 out of 4.0 GPA) or higher; or
  • Eight or more transferable college or university courses with a 'C' average (2.0 out of 4.0 GPA) or higher.

Transfer applicants presenting two- or three-year associate degrees with a 'C' average (2.0 out of 4.0 GPA) or higher will also be considered for admission.

Transfer applicants presenting three- and four-year Bachelor degrees from recognized universities with a 'C' average (minimum 2.0 out of 4.0 GPA) or higher will be considered for admission to second Bachelor degree programs.

International Baccalaureate qualifications Applicants presenting International Baccalaureate diplomas are eligible for general admission to the University.
English Language Proficiency Not applicable for students whose first language is English.
Canada Immigration Allow at least 40 days for Canada Immigration to process your application for a student visa.

Be prepared to present evidence of adequate funding: Canada Immigration will want to see that you have the equivalent of at least C$10,000 (excluding tuition costs) to cover the costs of your first year of study in Canada.

* For sending ACT scores to the University, the institutional code for the University of Lethbridge is 5202.

** For sending SAT scores to the University, the institutional code for the University of Lethbridge is 0855.
