International Admission Requirements - Singapore

Applications are welcome from prospective students:

  • completing Higher Secondary School (grade 12);
  • transferring with college or university course credits;
  • with college diplomas; and
  • with previous university degrees.
Higher Secondary School admission

Successful Secondary Sixth Form applicants must present:

  • Five distinct GCE subjects, at least two of which must be at the Advanced level. Acceptable grades are A-E at the Advanced level and A-C (1-3) at the Ordinary level. The overall average must be at least 65%.
Transfer admission Transfer applicants who present either of the following are admissible:
  • Acceptable Higher Secondary School qualifications (see above) and three or more transferable college or university courses with a grade point average (GPA) of 'C' or higher; or,
  • Eight or more transferable college or university courses with a GPA of 'C' or higher.

Transfer applicants presenting two- or three-year college diplomas with GPAs of 2.5 out of 4.0 (C+) or higher will also be considered for admission.

Transfer applicants presenting three- and four-year university degrees from recognized universities with GPAs of 'C' or higher will be considered for admission to second Bachelor degree programs.

International Baccalaureate qualifications Applicants presenting International Baccalaureate diplomas are eligible for general admission to the University.
English Language Proficiency Not applicable for students whose first language is English.

Immigration Procedures

Canada Immigration Allow at least 40 days for Canada Immigration to process your application for a student visa.

Be prepared to present evidence of adequate funding: Canada Immigration will want to see that you have the equivalent of at least C$10,000 (excluding tuition costs) to cover the costs of your first year of study in Canada.
Student Visa Application Procedures

When submitting your application for authorization to study in Canada, please include the following:

  1. Completed application for Temporary Entry to Canada (Student Authorization) - Form IMM1294. Your name should be entered in English and Chinese characters (where applicable) as shown in your passport. All entries should be typed or printed in block letters.
  2. Processing fee.
  3. Two passport-sized photographs of yourself and any accompanying family members:
  4. The original and a photocopy of the official letter of acceptance from the educational institution you will attend. It should clearly indicate the exact date the course will begin and when it is expected to be completed. This letter should be signed by the Registrar or Principal of the university, college or school. The original letter will be returned to you. Fax messages cannot be accepted.
  5. Proof of funds (e.g., bank drafts, fixed deposits, a bank statement showing the account balance, etc.). Students are permitted to enter Canada to study on the understanding that they have access to sufficient funds for living expenses, full tuition, return transportation and other necessary costs. Costs in Canada vary according to the location of the institution and room and board facilities. As a guideline, Cdn $10,000 (in addition to tuition fees) per academic year should be sufficient:
  6. Proof of payment of tuition fees for a full academic year or for the duration of the course of study in the form of:
    • an official receipt from the institution, or
    • a counterfoil copy or a certified true copy of a bank draft in your name or in the name of the institution.
