International Admission Requirements - Republic of Korea

Applications are welcome from prospective students:

  • completing Academic High School Diploma or Vocational High School Diploma;
  • transferring with junior college or university course credits;
  • with junior college diplomas; and
  • with previous university degrees.
High School admission Applicants should have CSAT scores as well as an Academic High School diploma with “satisfactory” standing or higher in five Grade 12 academic  subjects, one of which must be English. Vocational High School Diplomas will be considered for admission on an individual basis.
Transfer admission Transfer applicants who present either of the following are admissible:
  • Acceptable High School qualifications (see above) and three or more transferable college or university courses with a minimum of 'C' or 60%; or,
  • Eight or more transferable college or university courses with a minimum of 'C' or 60%.
Transfer applicants presenting two- or three-year college diplomas with an average of 'C' (60%) or higher will also be considered for admission.

Transfer applicants presenting three- and four-year university degrees from recognized universities with an average of 'C' (60%) or higher will be considered for admission to second Bachelor degree programs.
International Baccalaureate qualifications Applicants presenting International Baccalaureate diplomas are eligible for general admission to the University.
English Language Proficiency Not applicable for students whose first language is English.

Immigration Procedures

Canada Immigration Allow at least 30 days for Canada Immigration to process your application for a student visa.

Be prepared to present evidence of adequate funding: Canada Immigration will want to see that you have the equivalent of at least C$10,000 (excluding tuition costs) to cover the costs of your first year of study in Canada.
Student Visa Application Procedures

If a Korean student intends to study in Canada for more than three months (12 weeks), they will have to apply for a student authorization in the Visa Section in the Canadian Embassy, Seoul. Following are the required documents:

  1. Completed and signed application form.
  2. Proof of payment of processing fee.
  3. Passport valid for at least six months from date of visa application and two passport photographs of applicant.
  4. Medical examination confirmation letter. If students intend to study longer than five months and remain in Canada for six months or longer, they must undergo a mandatory medical examination.
  5. Letter of Acceptance. Original or fax letter of acceptance from the Canadian institutions plus one good copy. The following should be indicated in the acceptance letter from the institutions:
    • the student name and date of birth;
    • the complete mailing address of the student;
    • the name and duration of the program including start date and end date (over 12 weeks);
    • full-time/part-time status in course of study;
    • conditions of acceptance specified as clearly as possible; and
    • tuition fee.
  6. Proof of sustainable financial support:
    • the only family members who are acceptable as guarantors are: spouse, parents, grandparents, brothers or sisters.
  7. Personal history.
  8. Applicants under 18 years of age:
    • notarized affidavit of custodianship granted by custodian in Canada attached by the identification of guardian (guardian must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada).
    • notarized parental consent granted by parents in Korea.
    • if student is to stay in a dormitory, it should be indicated so they are not required custodianship.
