International Admission Requirements - P.R. China

P.R. China

Admission to the University of Lethbridge is available to qualified applicants from the Peoples' Republic of China. Students who also have qualifications from Hong Kong should refer also to Hong Kong.

Secondary Education admission

Secondary school graduates who have completed the following are admissible:

  • Senior Middle School Diploma and National Entrance Examination (NCEE) Results or equivalent (NCEE requirement is 485/750); or,
  • Senior Middle School Diploma, and a grade of at least 60% on each and an average of 75% or higher (where 60% is the passing grade) on the following five, successfully completed, 12th Grade (Year Three of Senior Middle School) subjects:
    1. English, and,
    2. The highest grades from any four of: Chinese, Biology, Chemistry, another language, Geography, Mathematics, or Physics.
Transfer admission Transfer applicants who present either of the following are admissible:
  • Acceptable Secondary Education credentials (see above) and three or more transferable first degree (college/institute/university) courses with a minimum of 60% in each course; or
  • Eight or more transferable first degree (college/institute/university) courses with a minimum mark of 60% in each course.

Transfer applicants presenting two- or three-year college/institute/university degrees/diplomas, with a minimum average of 65% (or equivalent of GPA 2.5 out of 4.0) will also be considered for admission.

Transfer applicants presenting three- and four-year university degrees from recognized universities with a minimum average of 60% (or equivalent of GPA 2.0 out of 4.0) will be considered for admission to second Bachelor degree programs.

International Baccalaureate qualifications Applicants presenting International Baccalaureate diplomas are eligible for general admission to the University.
English Language Proficiency

All students whose first language is not English must provide proof of English Language Proficiency (ELP) taken within the last two years, such as:

  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score of at least 6.0.

***Conjoint admission is available to students who meet the academic requirements but have not achieved proof of ELP. Students must have skills beyond a beginner level of English.

Canada Immigration Allow at least 30 days for Canada Immigration to process your application for a student visa.

Be prepared to present evidence of adequate funding: Canada Immigration will want to see that you have the equivalent of at least C$10,000 (excluding tuition costs) to cover the costs of your first year of study in Canada.
