Research, Applied Studies, and Independent Study Opportunities

University of Lethbridge Anthropology professors continue to contribute valuable research to their profession, and undergraduate students play a key role in this process. In addition to regular course loads, students are encouraged to participate in Independent Study and Applied Studies courses as well as contribute to departmental activities through employment as Research Assistants. Students with the required GPA can enrol in the undergraduate thesis courses which require basic research as a component of study. Field school opportunities are available, as well as study abroad programs. Combined with the required coursework, these opportunities provide a solid foundation for further studies and a challenging career

Co-operative Education

Students are also encouraged to participate in the University's Co-operative Education Program. Students gain valuable work experience directly related to their particular field of study while earning a competitive salary. The Co-op program combines academic study with semesters of paid employment. It is designed to allow students to integrate classroom knowledge with practical experience and gain valuable contacts in the workforce.

Graduate Studies

A Social Science Concentration in Anthropology, Kinesiology, Sociology, or Women’s Studies is available to students who choose an Individualized Multidisciplinary major in the M.A. program only (see program planning guide in your specific concentration).
