Project Specific Insurance

The University, as owner of the project, will assess through consultation with Campus Safety, Insurance & Risk Services the requirement for a project specific insurance to be placed either through a Contractor Controlled Insurance Program (CCIP) or acquiring an Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP).

The advantages of the placement of an OCIP is that the University has control over the placement of the program, the assessment of the specific coverage that required, the requisite limits and ensuring compliance with any specific contractual obligations. This program is specific solely to the project. The construction of the project is insured through the Builder's Risk/Course of Construction and Wrap Up Liability insurance provides all-encompassing insurance which protecting the university's, contractors and subcontractors interests on the project. Coverage can be tailored to the needs of a particular project.

Campus Safety, Insurance & Risk Services can assist the project manager in obtaining a quotation for the placement of project specific insurance, which is required if the project is the construction of a new building as well as for major restoration projects.
