October 11th 2011: THORLACIUS, Jon MacRae. Jon was born on July 12th 1928 and raised on a farm near Leslie, Saskatchewan. his sister Rose was a guiding influence, often watching over him while their mother Jonas was teaching. Jon’s early schooling was in Kristnes, Kuroki and Wadena, Saskatchewan. When he married Beth, he took his first teaching job in Watrous, Saskatchewan. Jon had a distinguished career in the field of education, retiring in 1985 as the Dean of Education at the U of L. Prior to that, he was a teacher and vice-principal at both Wilson Junior High and Sir Winston Churchill High School.
