Knowledge Mobilization Pathways

As the UILO responds to the changing innovation landscape, and focuses increasingly on the range of social and academic benefits from transferring knowledge generated through research activities, there is a need to supplement the traditional commercialization activities of licensing and spin-off company creation with other ways of mobilizing knowledge. While not all discoveries will have a significant financial impact, other mechanisms exist, and are continuing to develop, which can increase the academic, innovative and societal impacts of this research by mobilizing the knowledge more efficiently.

In addition to academic publications, these mechanisms range from data and materials repositories, open source licensing and other pathways which the UILO has been involved in developing.
