The Crew L to R: Pat Fleming, Adam Kreek, Markus Pukonen, and Jordan Hanssen
.
Adam Kreek, our Water in a World of 7 Billion Friday Keynote for ‘ The Power of Adventure’ is at it again. Last week the CWF Africa to the Americas Expedition shoved off from Dakar, Senegal to row unassisted across the Atlantic Ocean on a daring 3569 nautical miles journey to Miami, USA. Using human power to propel the boat, with solar and wind power to charge its instruments, Adam and the crew are conducting research on the ocean & themselves to share it live & in real-time to viewers world-wide.
Rick Mrazek (Education) is tasked with monitoring the rowers' course and compiling the data they're collecting, which will be used in a number of studies. The research ranges from studies in ocean acidification to marine ecosystems and even sleep deprivation and kinesiology. Mrazek said he’s using the data for his own studies on utilizing emerging technologies to engage the public in discussions on water and the environment.
