Engage applications are accepted on a continual basis, and offer $25,000 for up to six months. They are intended to foster researcher-industry partnerships by allowing for innovative companies to take advantage of the expertise at Canadian universities to solve a company-specific problem. Results are typically received within 3-5 months of submission. Companies are only required to committ an in-kind contribution to the research.
Note: As of May 1, 2018, researchers are restricted to holding one Engage grant per twelve month cycle. Successful Engage grants may apply for an Engage Plus, which will extend the project for an additional six months. For an Engage Plus, the industrial partner must match, in cash, the funds requested from NSERC.
Eligible partners must meet NSERC's Eligible Partners criteria, and have the ability to exploit the research after the term of the grant has ended. Talk to Emma Dering for more information on eligible partners.
