In 2007, AltaLink launched its Indigenous scholarship program. This scholarship program is designed to recognize leaders in the Indigenous community by offering scholarships to Indigenous students attending post-secondary institutions. Two eligible students from each of Treaty 6, 7, 8 and the Métis community in Alberta will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
To be eligible, applicants must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution and:
- Treaty applicants must be born in Alberta.
- Métis applicants must either be a member of the Métis Nation of Alberta Association or an Alberta Métis Settlement.
- If you have received AltaLink’s Indigenous Scholarship in the past you are not eligible to apply again.
- Preference is given to students who are working on their first degree.
