Fiat Lux Honour Society

Purpose 

  • Celebrates, encourages, and recognizes the talented learners at the University of Lethbridge.
  • Creates increased awareness of personal and professional opportunities in the world for our talented learners through increased collaboration with faculty members and other talented learners across disciplines at the University of Lethbridge.
  • Enhances a community of learners with a commitment to inspiration.
  • Confers distinction for high achieving undergraduate learners for learning excellence, intelligence, creativity and leadership.
  • Supports and enhances a brand of excellence, intelligence, and creativity at the University of Lethbridge.
  • Fosters a culture of liberal education and collaboration.
  • Builds and preserves valuable traditions and customs.
  • Emphasizes a high level of citizenship responsibilities and promotes a deeper understanding of the University of Lethbridge ideals and potential.
  • Associates outstanding learner and faculty leaders across disciplines with a mutual understanding for the advancement of society with increased social responsibility.
  • Promotes, encourages, and strengthens leadership development at all levels of the campus community through open communication and collaboration.
  • Develops stewards of Honour at the University of Lethbridge.
  • Establishes a goal for all learners to become members of the Honour Society.

Member Responsibilities and Activities/Outcomes 

  • Promote and role model leadership within the University’s underlying themes reflecting the University’s strategic plan.
  • Commit to action in all undertakings.
  • Commit to a leadership role, especially within the University of Lethbridge.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff and other learners to determine ways to promote the core themes of liberal education, community, healthy mind and body, personal leadership, service leadership and the environment as reflected the University’s strategic plan.
  • Reflect integrity and respect for the pursuit of education.
  • Develop, submit, and maintain a personal vision using appreciative inquiry to understand the University’s strengths and opportunities, as well as the member’s aspirations to reinforce the underlying themes representing the University’s strategic plan.
