Dual Admission - Pilot Project

Purpose

  • To review and make recommendations for dual admission partnerships between two-year colleges and the University of Lethbridge.
  • To determine requirements and guidelines of both the colleges and University to introduce Dual Admission.
  • To evaluate the Dual Admission pilot project and make recommendations for future Dual Admission agreements.

Outcomes of Success

  • Provides a seamless pathway for students to begin their academic career at a college and then transfer to U of L with assurance that courses will transfer for credit.
  • Improves potential for students to choose post-secondary education.
  • Increases student access to first-year scholarships at U of L.
  • Builds relationships with both dual admission students and partner colleges.
  • Increases advising and planning for dual admission students with articulation agreements in place for selected courses.
  • Improves effective recruitment efforts.
  • Increases retention and persistence to graduation with better prepared students.
  • Increases sense of community.
  • Better overall enrolment and course planning for strategic and budget planning.

  • Memorandum of Understanding with College of the Rockies signed September 10, 2014.
  • Teleconference with U of L and COTR representatives - December 19, 2014.
  • Two early dual admission applications received from COTR - April, 2015.
  • Additional dual admission partners under review with Provost's Council - April, 2015.
  • Dual Admission confirmed with Medicine Hat College - Feb., 2016.
  • Dual Admission potential expansion with another College under review - 2016.
  • Dual Admission extended partnership review with COTR - Jan., 2017.
