Campus Housing Expansion


  • To increase learner opportunities to attend a Post-Secondary institution; namely, the University of Lethbridge.
  • To increase a sense of community at the University of Lethbridge.
  • To increase the University's ability to accommodate more learners on campus with programming focused on a graduation culture.
  • To create a balanced intake in Campus Housing to accommodate both new and returning learners.

  • Increased academic and social integration.
  • Increased enrolment, retention, and graduation rates.

  • October 13, 2010  City of Lethbridge approved a $3.5 million grant towards additional Campus Housing.
  • December 16, 2010 Board of Governors approved authorization for Request for Proposal for design consultants for new single student housing.
  • February 4, 2011 Design Consultant selected.
  • Board of Governors approval June 23, 2011 to proceed with project and request for funding.
  • Additional beds in U-Hall and Kainai House completed Sept. 30, 2011.
  • November 17, 2011 - Official Sod Turning for a 259-bed residence designed for returning and continuing students.
  • Project operationlized.
  • Mt. Blakiston opened September, 2013.
