As a Comprehensive Academic and Research Institution, the University of Lethbridge is committed to maintaining and improving the high quality of its educational experience. An important part of this commitment is a robust and effective system of quality assurance.
At the U of L, we have a rigorous quality assurance process that includes internal self study and external review. This process is overseen by the Academic Quality Assurance Committee, a committee of the General Faculties Council.
At the U of L, the Academic Quality Assurance process involves several participants, including: the Dean; the program or unit Chair; a Program Review Coordinator (faculty member); a Self Study Committee (faculty members); Institutional Analysis; the Academic Quality Assurance Committee; and the Vice President (Academic)
An external review, by experts outside the U of L, is critical to the quality assurance process. In its statement of the purpose of quality assurance, the Academic Quality Assurance Policy states that a key aspect is "constructive, formative criticism by qualified external reviewers." External reviewers provide us with valuable advice on improving our programs and units.
If you are an external reviewer, please see Appendix One in the Academic Quality Assurance Policy and Process for the suggested content of the External Review Report. This outline is also presented as a separate document in the links to the right.
