Prentice Institute for Global Population and Economy, University of Lethbridge seeks Master’s & Ph. D students.

As a world-class research institute, the Prentice Institute examines big-picture issues relating to global population changes within a broad historical framework, while also connecting local and regional changes with similar global trends. The focus of the Institute is to provide information and otherwise contribute to the development of policy options, to guide Canadians and their governments in addressing some of the difficult challenges facing the world: food security, water scarcity and irrigation, public policy issues affecting Aboriginal peoples; medical implications and economic challenges associated with health implications and economic challenges associated with an aging population, including pension programs

Applications are sought from students with training in multiple methodologies, including quantitative analysis, demography, sociology, economics and cognate disciplines to participate in research projects working with:

  • Demographics
  • Historical and longitudinal data
  • Regional, provincial and national data

Research projects may include, but not be restricted to studies in the following areas:

  • Health
  • Education
  • Labour markets
  • Immigration

Funding: Students may receive $10,000 per annum from the School of Graduate Studies, and a research stipend from their supervisor.

Degrees: University of Lethbridge offers a range of MA and MSc degrees, including Multidisciplinary degrees in Social Sciences, Sociology, Health Sciences, Anthropology, Geography, and Political Science.   We also offer a PhD in Demography.
