Risk and Safety Services and Security Services is reminding all who are part of our campus community that the University of Lethbridge has several programs, policies and procedures in place to ensure the protection and safety of our students, faculty and staff.

SECURITY CONCERN? CALL 329-2345

The most important element is the on-campus security emergency number -- 329-2345 (or 2345 from any classroom or internal telephone). This connects you with Security Services personnel who can offer assistance on a 24 hour basis.

In addition, security services has developed a website with resources for various emergencies.

SAFEWALK

Safe Walk offers escorts from anywhere on campus to anywhere on campus. Safe Walk teams consist of one male and one female student. The program runs from late September until late April.

Operating hours are Monday-Friday 8:30pm to 12:30am, and Sunday 8:00pm to 11:00pm

Security Services will provide escorts outside of the Safe Walk hours. Call 329-2345 to arrange a safe walk to your vehicle.

WORKING ALONE SAFELY

All who work alone on campus are strongly encouraged to register with the Working Alone System Login http://www.uleth.ca/workingalone which will allow Security to identify when someone is in a specific area of the University in case of an emergency situation.

The Working Alone Protocol was developed in 2005 to enable the University to ensure, as far as reasonable, the health and safety of staff, faculty and students who work alone.

A copy of this Working Alone Protocol can be accessed on the Risk & Safety Services website at

PERSONAL SECURITY

The University is committed to providing a living, learning and working environment that is free of threats to personal security and is supportive of productivity, academic achievement, and the dignity, self-esteem and fair treatment of all members of its community.

The Personal Security Policy, developed by the University in consultation with employee and student groups, gives practical application to that commitment.

"Personal security" means freedom from violence, the threat of violence, harassment, hazing, abuse of supervisor's authority, verbal abuse, and discrimination in contravention of the Alberta Human Rights, Citizenship and Multiculturalism Act.
