“The Multigenerational Workplace: Myths, Facts, Managing”    By Dan Kazakoff

Diversity in organizations is a widely discussed topic today.  When most people think of diversity they think of race, ethnicity, disability, gender or culture.  However, one of the ways we see difference in the workplace is the generation in which employees grew up.  With three to five generations working alongside each other in most workplaces, a lack of understanding across generations can have a detrimental impact on working relationships and organizational productivity.  This talk will examine the myths and facts of the multigenerational workplace, along with providing some suggestions for strategies to manage in this context.

About the presenter:

Dan Kazakoff is a member of the Human Resource Management and Organizational Studies Area in the Faculty of Management at The University of Lethbridge.  Previously, he worked in the private sector and was a consultant with numerous clients in both the private and not-for profit sectors.  He has a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Calgary and an MBA degree from the University of Alberta.  Dan is the recipient of two national awards for innovative Program Development for undergraduate students as well as numerous teaching and community awards.  Over the past seventeen years, Dan has supervised over 100 consulting live case projects with local small business and non-profit organizations.
