“We’re inviting the community to celebrate with us during our first-ever symposium that discusses the common ground between the diverse fields in new media,” says Dr. Aaron Taylor, Chair of the New Media Department. “We’re excited to welcome back successful alumni along with current Master of Fine Arts candidates and New Media faculty to provide 12 engaging sessions throughout the day.”

During this all-day event, speakers present on subjects that highlight the department’s three concentrations: Gaming & Animation, Web & Graphic Design, and Cinema Production. Alumni speakers include:

  • Output Media founder and employees Bryn Hewko (MFA ’16), Keith Morgan (BFA ’15) and Caroline Weigum (BFA ’16).
  • Kim Porter (BFA ’12), a production coordinator with Slap Happy Cartoons, has worked on shows like The Deep, Slugterra, Max Steel, Kate and Mim Mim, and is currently producing a Netflix original called The Hollow.
  • Brendan Matkin (BFA ’13), an interaction design researcher and MA candidate at the Simon Fraser University School of Interactive Art and Technology
