Are you interested in creating an oral history project in your community or for your family?

The University of Lethbridge's Centre for Oral History and Tradition (COHT) in partnership with the Galt Museum & Archives and Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre (Medicine Hat) is offering two practical, hands-on workshops which will take place as follows:

Beginner Workshop
Registration Cost:  $70/person; $35/person for seniors and students
Date:  March 24, 2017
Time:  9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Location:  AH-100 (Andy's Place) - University of Lethbridge

This workshop will focus on basic practical preparation for an oral history project, including the interviewing and transcription processes.

Registration includes a full day of lectures, lunch & break refreshments, a workshop package including a booklet with guiding principles & helpful instructional information.

Note:  an Intermediate Workshop will take place on May 12, 2017 (10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) at the Esplanade Arts & Centre in Medicine Hat.  To register - call 403-502-8777 or www.tixx.caRegistration deadline:  May 5, 2017.  Cost:  $70/person; $35/person for seniors and students.  This workshop will focus on analyzing oral history interviews, ethical conduct in human subject research, First Nations oral history and funding community projects.  The intermediate workshop builds upon the beginner community oral history workshop but individuals who did not attend the beginner workshop are still welcome.   Registration includes a full day of lectures, lunch & break refreshments, a workshop package including a booklet with guiding principles & helpful instructional information.

Workshop leaders, for both, are university scholars and project managers with professional and scholarly experience in oral history-based research.
