Architecture & Design NOW series presents Jeremy Borsos
6 pm | March 25, 2019
Room L1060
Free admission, everyone welcome!

This talk will introduce the ideas and values inherent in the application of salvaged building elements, and the design choices made to integrate their use.

Born of necessity in keeping building costs low, the re-use and re-evaluation of  salvaged materials has now become part of an aesthetic.

Beginning in the early 1980s, Borsos began collecting architectural elements in order to build a low-cost home.

What resulted are structures that connect the builder with the lasting legacy of the materials used.

Jeremy Borsos lives and works on Mayne Island, British Columbia in Berlin, Germany and in Athens, Greece. He worked in the motion picture industry in multiple capacities before enrolling at the Emily Carr School of Art in Vancouver in 1983.

He then relocated to New York, where he attended the Art Students League to study classical media. In 1987 he returned to Canada and has since had numerous regional, national and international exhibitions. His work is multidisciplinary including photography, installation, architecture, writing and video.
