We are honored to welcome Dr. Eleanor Maguire from The University College London to take part in the 16th annual Brenda Milner Lecture Series in Lethbridge.

Tuesday, June 19, 2018: Public lecture at 7:00PM at the Lethbridge Public Library (Theatre Gallery).

Dr. Eleanor MaguireDr. Maguire is a Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience at the University College London, who piloted the famous “London Taxi Driver Study” which provided pivotal evidence linking structural changes in the brain to memory. Beyond this significant contribution, Dr. Maguire is also a Deputy Director at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging at University College London and honorary member of the Department of Neuropsychology, National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery. Further, Dr. Maguire has also been elected a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences, a Fellow of the Royal Society, and an honorary Member of the Royal Irish Academy. Finally, she has won several prizes including Ig Nobel Prize for Medicine - awarded for research promoting the public awareness and understanding of science, the Cognitive Neuroscience Society Young Investigator Award, the Royal Society Rosalind Franklin Award, The Feldberg Foundation Prize, and the Dargut and Milena Kemali International Prize.

The Brenda Milner Lecture Series (BMLS) is an annual event in honour of Brenda Milner, one of Canada's most eminent neuroscientists. Each year, the Neuroscience graduate student body selects an influential senior member within the international academic neuroscience community and invites him or her to Lethbridge to impart their knowledge and wisdom through a public lecture and various other events hosted in their honour.
