Do you want to make poverty history? Do you wish world leaders were doing more about poverty?
Have you heard about the Millennium Development Goals? They are 8 goals designed to end poverty, improve living conditions around the world, achieve environmental sustainability, and develop a global partnership for development; and they were agreed to by the UN member states in 2000, to be fulfilled by 2015. Will they be achieved?
U of L student Chris Michell will give a talk on the Millennium Development Goals and how individuals can take action, at 1:30 in SU234 on October 15th.
After the talk (2:30pm), participants will be given an opportunity to show their support for the goals, and take a stand against poverty, by physically standing up and being counted toward a global World Record attempt that will let government leaders know the world wants them to fulfill their promises.
All are welcome, come show your support for global poverty eradication.
