Dr. Meintzer was a professor of biochemistry at the University of Lethbridge. He was always very involved with his family, his church and his community, including serving as Chairman of the chemistry department and as acting vice-president of the University, as a trustee and Chairman of the Lethbridge Public School Board, and chairman of the United Way.
He was predeceased by his wife Beatrice in 2000. He is survived by his companion, Marge, and his seven children Chris (Judy), Rob (Joan), Karl (Dawn), Rod (Sheila), Edith (Mike), Sandy and Ken (Laura-Lee), 16 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in Grand Forks, ND, on January 4, 2007. Donations in his memory can be made directly to Alzheimer’s research. Sympathy cards can be directed to 5619 – 38B Ave., Edmonton, AB, T6L 1W2.
