Robert Turner, Q.C. has been appointed as the new chair of the University of Lethbridge Board of Governors by Advanced Education Minister Denis Herard. Effective immediately, Turner will vacate his position as a board member to take on a three-year term as chair.

He follows Terry Royer, who resigned as Chair to accept a position as Chair of the Access to the Future Fund.

“Robert has developed a strong connection to the University of Lethbridge over the years, not only as a former student but as a member of its board of governors for the past four years,” said Herard.

“I am confident that the role of chair will be a natural fit for Robert. His extensive experience as director for some very diverse organizations will translate into solid leadership for the board.”

Turner has degrees in business, commerce and law from Lethbridge Junior College, the University of Lethbridge, the University of Calgary and the University of Alberta.

He is currently vice-chairman and partner at Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP in Edmonton and serves as the director for numerous organizations, including the Edmonton Space & Science Foundation, EPCOR Preferred Equity Inc. and the Friends of Seven. Robert is also the Corporate Secretary of the Edmonton Economic Development Corporation and a member of the C.D. Howe Institute.
