We are all aware of the flood damage that has occurred throughout Southern Alberta; you may have also experienced your own flood damage on your property.
In an effort to help those who have lost so much, I am spearheading a “Gift Certificate Drive” and asking the University of Lethbridge community to purchase gift certificates (anything from Tim Horton’s, to grocery and drug stores to Canadian Tire accepted) and send them to me via inter-campus mail by July 4. My contacts with relief organizations through the wildfire research we have conducted has provided the unique opportunity to work with The Salvation Army Alberta Flood Relief Effort in this initiative. This relief group is willing to distribute the gift certificates for us. I will therefore be sending them to my Calgary contact and she will then distribute them to those in need. I will ensure that the accompanying letter highlights the generous nature of our University community.
