The Information Technology Services Department at the University of Lethbridge requires the services of a Technical Specialist I (Project Assistant). This role is an 8-month project position commencing work as soon as possible and ending approximately August 23, 2013.

The successful candidate will provide assistance with major institutional projects currently being led by the Information Technology Services Department. The successful incumbent will provide direct project support to the project management team. Activities will include; monitoring and tracking project deliverables as they relate to the schedule, and communicating that information to the Project Management team; generating progress and financial reports; taking minutes and following up on action items arising out of project meetings; other duties may supporting the Project Management team in booking rooms, tracking project-related contracts and invoices, and other administrative duties related to the projects. While acting in a supporting role, this position will gain valuable experience and exposure to high profile, complex projects involving senior executive leadership.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $3,558.00 - $3,958.50 per month

The ideal candidate will have, or be working towards, a University degree (preferably in MIS or Computer Science) or a related degree. Experience with project management techniques and methodology is required. Proven competence with MS Office and project management software will also be preferred.

The successful incumbent will have demonstrated initiative in prior roles as well as an ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment with minimal supervision. The keys to success for this position include; strong attention to detail, outstanding listening, organizational and multi-tasking skills along with demonstrating initiative and creativity in solving problems, and a proven analytical aptitude. The ability to maintain effective working relationships with members of the University community is essential.
