FINANCIAL ANALYST
The University of Lethbridge is a comprehensive academic and research institution founded in 1967 on the principles of liberal education. The Financial Services department exists to facilitate an environment for the responsible use of public resources through managing transactions effectively, providing support for the University community and incorporating policies, procedures and internal controls across the institution.
The Financial Services team invites qualified applicants to apply for our permanent, continuing position of Financial Analyst to start as soon as possible. Reporting to the Manager of Financial Reporting, this analyst will be a financial consultant to other University departments as well as complete activities within our department that support the institution’s strategic priorities. Through the financial consultant role, the analyst will be instrumental in adding value by providing analysis, budgetary advice, training, reporting, risk identification and mitigation, internal control review and recommendations, business process recommendations, and proactive support. Within our department, this challenging role will be responsible for complex accounting and analytical functions, account reconciliations, yearend working papers, processing and approving accounting transactions and various projects as they arise. As a department, we encourage critical thinking, questioning and recommendations from all staff to strengthen our processes, services and team.
The successful candidate must have a minimum of a University degree and an accounting designation, plus a minimum of 5 years of related accounting experience. Candidates must possess strong analytical skills, written and verbal communication skills and superior organizational skills to manage multiple demands. Experience working in a post-secondary institution as well as experience using various software programs such as Banner, FMW Web budget software, Caseware and Excel for analysis, forecasting, and reporting would be considered an asset.
