The Information Technology Department at the University of Lethbridge is seeking applications for a Portal Administrator position. Much like a Systems Analyst position, the Portal Administrator will be responsible for ensuring the portal itself and its integrations are designed and implemented in a reliable and sustainable way using a vast array of modern technologies.

Reporting to the Enterprise Systems Manager, the successful candidate will assist in the initial implementation of the Ellucian Luminis portal platform, which will serve as a centralized access point for self service functions utilized by students, employees, faculty, alumni, and other University constituent groups. This position will work closely with the database administrator, developers, and other technical positions, as well as leaders from departments and faculties across campus. Following the launch of the portal, the Portal Administrator will lead the continuous enhancement process as well as ensure the technical viability and reliability of the portal meets the significant expectations for the platform.

The successful candidate will have a post-secondary degree in Computer Science or MIS, and at least 4 years of progressive IT experience with a strong business background and technical ability, preferably in a Systems Analyst or similar role. Experience with integrating, developing and supporting business or educational applications will be a tremendous asset in assisting with the deployment and continuous enhancement of the portal. Preference will be given to those candidates who possess proven skills using platforms and technologies such as Oracle, Java EE development (including Web Services, JavaServer Pages, etc.), Spring Framework, CAS, content management systems, etc. Knowledge of server admin, web portals and portlet development is desirable, as is knowledge, capabilities and/or experience in business and technical analysis.

The individual must possess strong leadership, organizational, written and oral communication skills and must be a self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision. You will play a significant role in the development of innovative business and technology solutions that align with the University’s strategies and priorities.
