The Information Technology Services Department at the University of Lethbridge is seeking applications for the position of Database Administrator reporting to the Manager, IT Systems Support. This position will commence work as soon as possible.
The Database Administrator will take primary ownership and responsibility for providing a reliable, responsive, secure, and cost-effective Oracle database environment. This will include the acquisition, administration, and maintenance of all hardware and software associated with both production and development database(s) and their environments. Other database environments requiring secondary support include Microsoft SQLServer and MySQL.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or MIS and at least 4 years of related DBA experience. Oracle DBA certification would be a definite asset. The successful candidate must have strong experience with Oracle database administration as well as Linux system administration. In addition, any or all of the following skill sets would be a definite asset: MS Windows Server 2008 administration, MS SQLServer administration, MySQL administration, PostgreSQL administration, Ellucian Banner experience
The incumbent must possess strong leadership, organizational, oral communication and project management skills and must be a self starter and able to work with minimal supervision. The candidate must be able to deal with the demands of a 24/7 environment. The ability to build strong working relationships with faculty and staff is an asset.
