The Information Technology Services Department at the University of Lethbridge is seeking applications for the position of Chief Technology Officer reporting to the Chief Information Officer.

In collaboration with the CIO, the Chief Technology Officer helps define the vision, priorities, objectives of IT Services and is responsible for their implementation and execution within the IT Services department. The Chief Technology Officer plays a significant role in implementing the IT Services management framework and processes, and diagnosing opportunities to achieve University objectives through processes, services and technology. The Chief Technology Officer will work to understand current and projected business results and how the IT Services program can be leveraged to impact those results within the post-secondary environment.

The successful candidate must possess excellent leadership, managerial, analytical, organizational, communication (written and oral), planning and decision making skills. Demonstrated team building and relationship management skills enabling them to work well across functions are critical for success in this exciting opportunity.

The individual should also be connected within the IT community and able to leverage contacts; be service focused and be able to cultivate a service attitude and culture within the IT unit; and have proven success and experience with IT operations, applications management, frameworks and best practices (i.e. PM, ITIL, COBIT, SOA, EA). Strong project management skills will be essential to work with the PMO to ensure that all concurrent projects undertaken are on track and holding people to deliverables.

The successful candidate will have a post secondary degree in Computer Science, MIS or Business and at least 8 years of progressive IT experience with a strong business and technical understanding. Exceptional ability to immediately establish one’s credibility with IT staff and senior executives is key. An asset would be prior leadership experience in post-secondary institutions.
