Position: Curatorial Intern
Semester: Fall 2012
Duration: 4 months
Start & End Dates: September 5 - December 14, 2012
Job Duties / Related Information: The Curatorial Intern will help with the installation of exhibitions at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery between September and December 2012. Primary duties will include art handling, crating/uncrating artworks, receiving art shipments, completing incoming and outgoing condition reports of artwork, solving logistical problems relating to artwork installation, hanging artwork, setting up A/V equipment, minor construction, painting, and various other tasks.
Skill Requirement
•Prior art handling skills and knowledge of proper art handling procedures are highly desired.
•Some minor construction skills such as power tool usage, carpentry and painting are very useful, but not necessary.
•Organizational skills and logical problem solving abilities are also valued.
•Previous experience working or volunteering in an art gallery or museum setting is not required, but greatly appreciated.
•Heavy lifting will be necessary on occasion.

Participants must also be prepared to register this for course credit through the Applied Studies program. Applied Studies applicants must work a minimum of 10 hrs/week (130 hours) for 13 weeks and have a minimum GPA of 2.00.
