COMMUNICATION AND ASSESSMENT SPECIALIST
(TERM POSITION)

The Library at the University of Lethbridge is seeking highly qualified applicants for the position of Communication and Assessment Specialist. This is a full time, 2 year term, Administrative Professional Officer (APO) position to commence as soon as possible.

This is a newly developed position within the Library and will be responsible for leading marketing, communication and assessment efforts within the library. The CAS, reporting to the University Librarian, will be responsible for creating & disseminating professional communications to both internal and external stakeholders via existing and developing communication channels. Writing articles for publications and developing content for internal and external blogs and electronic newsletters will be a significant part of this job. The incumbent will be responsible for participating in marketing activities, including outreach events, student engagement activities, signage development and the dissemination of consistent messaging and branding of the University of Lethbridge Library. Working with library staff to ensure library message is consistent and shared across all stakeholders is a primary duty.

The ideal candidate will have the necessary skills and energy to develop and lead assessment efforts across the library with an emphasis on identifying, gathering, analyzing and communicating a variety of information on Library activities that support the University Strategic plan and the Library Academic Unit Plan. Assessment activities will involve identifying and collecting data from a variety of sources, on a variety of topics, conducting appropriate analysis and disseminating information to appropriate internal and external stakeholders.

The successful candidate must have a University degree with 4-7 years relevant experience preferably in an academic library setting; a management, communications and or marketing degree is highly desirable. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and a knowledge of basic HTML is required. Experience using spreadsheets and statistical methods highly recommended. Good basic math skill required. Candidates should demonstrate superior organizational skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, have excellent interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, recent related work experience (within the last 2 years), and have the ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with representatives from all levels of the University and the general community.
