SUPERVISOR, ACCESS SERVICES

The Library at the University of Lethbridge is seeking highly qualified applicants for the position of Supervisor, Access Services. This is a full time, continuing, Administrative Professional Officer position to commence as soon as possible.

This is a newly developed position within the Library and will be responsible for the day to day management of Library Access Services, including general circulation, course reserves, stacks maintenance and interlibrary loan/document delivery services. The Supervisor, reporting to the Associate University Librarian for Client Services, will be responsible for daily supervision of full and part time staff and student employees, as well as for the creation of work schedules, unit priorities, identification and implementation of training and development efforts, and be tasked with the review and management of relevant policies, procedures and guidelines related to Access Services.

The ideal candidate will possess a keen desire, and demonstrated ability, to provide excellence in customer service, to lead a seasoned and experienced staff in maintaining quality services and identify and develop new services and business models that are student centered and in line with the University Strategic Plan. This position will serve regularly scheduled hours on at the General Services Desk and will play a significant role in interpreting and enforcing policies and handling customer inquiries requiring clear communication to the organization and various user groups (internal and external). The incumbent may be assigned reference desk shifts, library project work or be assigned other duties as operational needs are identified.

The successful candidate must have a University degree with 4-7 years relevant customer service experience preferably in an academic library setting; a library technician diploma is preferred and experience with integrated library systems is essential. Candidates should demonstrate superior organizational skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, have excellent interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, recent relevant supervisory experience (within the last 2 years), and have the ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with representatives from all levels of the University and the general community.
