SYSTEMS SUPPORT SPECIALIST II

The Library at the University of Lethbridge requires the services of a qualified Systems Support Specialist II to commence work as soon as possible.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Library Information Systems, this position will be an integral part of a team dedicated to supporting the Library’s technology services. The incumbent will have the experience and creativity required to contribute to web design, development and maintenance. The position also requires a broad knowledge of computer equipment and peripherals, operating systems networks, and audio/visual equipment, as well as excellent trouble shooting skills. To be successful in this position the successful candidate must be friendly, positive, calm and have excellent interpersonal skills in stressful situations.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $4,015.00 - $4,487.50 per month.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will have a Technical diploma or a University degree in fields relating to Computing Science or New Media with 1½ to 3 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate must have some experience with the following: XHTML, ASP, PHP, CSS, DHTML, JavaScript, XML, AJAX, JQuery, MySQL database architectures and demonstrate W3C-compliant programming skills. Familiarity with Application Programming Interfaces (API’s) and web services (SOAP, REST) would also be desirable. Demonstrated technical ability and knowledge of computer hardware and software, using both Macintosh and Windows-based applications, as well as experience with multimedia equipment and applications is required. Experience with integrated library systems would be considered an asset. The ability to maintain effective working relationships with the University community and the general public is essential.
