The University of Lethbridge maintains a central wireless infrastructure, that currently has 3 different available networks. UOFL (student secure access), ULETH (open access), and CAMPUS (faculty secure access). Feedback to Information Technology indicated that this schema was confusing. As a result, IT is will discontinue the use of the UOFL wireless network and rename the ULETH (open access)network. Student general access can be gained through the GUEST@UOFL wireless network, or if a secure trusted connection is needed the CAMPUS wireless network will be available.
It is important to note that this change will only affect those that are currently connected to the UOFL wireless network or the ULETH (now GUEST@UOFL open network), all others will see no change in service.
This change will take place Monday, August 27, 2007, help desk staff will be ready to assist in the movement from one wireless network to the other.
This wireless network is meant primarily for student and guest access. General Internet activities are best served by attaching to this network. There is limited access to trusted campus resources through this network.
For PC Users:
In order to access the wireless network, your notebook must have a wireless network card that is 801.11B or 802.11G (WiFi) compliant. The 5-step process to access is:

2. Double click the Network icon.

This wireless network is meant primarily for those needing advance wireless network connection to trusted University resources. General Internet activities are available via this connection, as well as connection to trusted services. Connection to this network is generally for Faculty and Staff of the University of Lethbridge.
For PC and Mac Users:
Please bring the laptop to the HelpDesk (E610) between the hours of 8:00 am - 6:00 pm and we will assist you in accessing the campus wireless. For PC users there are a few things that we will need to check on your laptop before it is allowed on this network. They are:
1. Checking whether there is a valid and up-to-date virus software pkg. installed such as Norton, McAffee, or Trendmicro Officescan
2. Checking that there are no spyware or viruses on the laptop
3. Making sure the laptop has the latest Windows Updates
This process usually takes between 2 - 3 hours so please be aware that you will have to leave the laptop with us for a while. Once this is done we will enter the network key and then you will have access. For Mac users, the process won't take quite as long because we don't need to do a virus and spyware scan or windows updates.
If you have any questions or concerns please contact the HelpDesk at # 329-2490 or email email@example.com. Thank you!
