What was this ITS Service Notice about?
On July 2, there will be a downtime for a service restart affecting the
Bridge, Banner, Expense Claim system, FMW Budgeting system, JIRA, Confluence,
Serena VCS, Web Services, Gateways, and all Banner system interfaces. This
involves an operating systems level restart of the database server. This work
will prevent our system from processing credit card transactions through our
Payment Gateway during the downtime due to the integration with Banner. It
may also temporarily prevent other web services relying on Banner from
working during the downtime period. The downtime should be brief unless
problems with the patches are encountered. The risk for these patches and
changes have been investigated by IT Systems and is considered to be low.
When did this happen?
The downtime will start at 11:00 PM on Tuesday July 2nd, 2013. The downtime
should last no more than approximately 30 minutes.
Why did this happen?
We are currently experiencing a slowdown of performance due to locking
issues. We would like to restarte to server to clear-out all remaining
locks, in hopes that this will improve performance.
How did this affect me?
If there is any information you require from the Bridge, Banner forms,
Expense Claim system, FMW Budgeting system, JIRA, Confluence, Serena VCS, Web
Services, Gateways, or other Banner system interfaces during this downtime,
please ensure you acquire the information prior to 11:00 PM on Tuesday July
2nd, 2013. The temporary disruption to the Payment Gateway may prevent the
completion of certain conference or event registrations, daycare, student and
graduation applications, and other online payments during the system
downtime.
