The Optimization Group in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science is currently comprised of three faculty members - Dr. Robert Benkoczi, Dr. Daya Gaur and Dr. Shahadat Hossain. The group conducts research in the general area of mathematical optimization (discrete and continuous) and has been very active in recruiting and training students at MSc and PhD levels. They have recently received an award from PIMS (Pacific Institute of the Mathematical Sciences) to further their research.
