This lecture will provide an introduction to the heraldic tradition in Canada, and it will look at how the Canadian Heraldic Authority creates coats of arms, flags and other emblems for Canadians, illustrated with examples from the past 20 years, with a special focus on academic heraldry and the combining of traditional heraldry with First Nations emblematic traditions.
